AMIBA is offering a writing internship that will involve researching and writing articles and commentaries to appear on our website, forthcoming blog and in commercial publications. AMIBA’s core work is empowering communities, helping them build thriving local economies based on local ownership of business, and preventing remote corporations from displacing local entrepreneurs. Writing topics all relate to entrepreneurship and community prosperity in some way, but reach into topics like immigration, civil rights, public lands policy and more.
We have a strong record of success helping new writers develop their skills and get published in mainstream media. We are based in Bozeman, Montana, but the intern may be based anywhere as long as you are self-directed and diligent. We are especially interested in applicants from diverse backgrounds.
A modest stipend will be provided (unless getting academic credit precludes this at your school) and will be negotiated with the successful applicant. A successful internship will likely be followed by opportunities for paid writing. The opportunity also is open to non-students.
Please email the following to news @ amiba[dot]net
- A brief letter of interest with any specific experience or knowledge relating to our work and topics noted above
- At least two writing samples (non-academic preferred). If you do not have non-academic samples, please compose a letter to the editor on a current news topic of your choice in addition to your two samples. You may link to items published online or paste them into a Google doc and provide us with the url.
