AMIBA seeks a writer for short-term contract work producing articles and commentaries to appear in commercial publications nationwide and online. The writing will address two major themes:
- How small businesses and local economies benefit from strong protections for clean air, water, open space and encouraging more human-centered development (as opposed to automobile-centered)
- The economic benefits to businesses and communities of a diverse staff / community (see our Business Against Bigotry campaign overview to get a clearer picture)
This is our first occasion looking beyond staff for AMIBA writing, and we are open to engaging the right person hourly, on a results-based plan, or a combination. We invite you to share your thoughts in your cover letter.
There is no geographic limitation — work with AMIBA staff can be conducted by phone, email and Google docs. The planned writing will take place mid-July-October, but ongoing work or a permanent staff position is possible beyond October.
Please email the following to news @ amiba[dot]net
- Brief letter of interest with any specific experience or knowledge of the topics noted
- At least three published writing samples (you may link to items published online or paste them into a Google doc). Of course, articles addressing one of these realms are ideal, but not required.
