TV and Radio Ads

TV ad from Capital Area IBA (Springfield, IL) See our collection of pro-local videos from local Alliances for many more ideas. It includes links to several fine “how to” resources for producing effective amateur video promotions.

Stay Local! produced rotating underwriting spots mentioning participating  businesses that appear in their group ad (see “ads/coupons/contests” above) on a local National Public Radio affiliate station that read: “Support for WWNO comes from Stay Local! And its locally-owned member businesses, including: Cowbell, Pal’s lounge, Live Art Studio and Peaches Records, who contribute to the community spirit of local businesses with Independents Week” June 27 – July 4. Information and listings at stay local dot org.”

Corvallis IBA presented the following radio ad to member businesses as an underwriting opportunity in exchange for advertising by including the business name in the tagline.  The ad was scheduled to run from June 30 – July 7, a minimum of 10 times on five stations (two broadcast and three Internet). “As we celebrate Independence Day it’s time to also celebrate our local independent businesses. The very independent (KGAL/KSHO/Action Stream) Radio and locally owned Eads Broadcasting Corporation joins the Corvallis Independent Business Alliance and the American Independent Business Alliance to declare the week of July 1-7 as Independents Week. It’s a time to reflect on the importance of economic democracy and community self-determination by celebrating the nation’s locally owned independent businesses and the stake we have in shaping our home town’s future. CIBA invites you to help celebrate by joining in activities and in-store promotions offered by local independent businesses near you…..now and every week. (This message is brought to you by the Corvallis Independent Business Alliance. CIBA is a group of over 100 local, independent business owners and concerned citizens who recognize and appreciate the unique character of the Corvallis community.    Shop local in Corvallis and Philomath.)”

The Mayor of Fitchburg, one of the cities beside Madison also spoke at the press conference, and the County Executive mailed a Proclamation of support as well. Dane Buy Local also enlisted their member businesses to participate by offering special deals and activities throughout the week and a growing list of individuals who signed an online Pledge to celebrate and buy local for Independents Week.
